Kemper and I turned 40 in 2006...after some life altering decisions we moved in together in December.
In March, we got matching tattoos and later that month, we bought a motorcycle. A Kawasaki Vulcan 900, we call her Veronica.
My friends Monica and Dusty were a huge influence in this decision…they have a Harley…but allow us to ride along with them from time to time…if we promise to stay in the back of the pack…
We like to ride in organized rides...like those that benefit a cause, our first one was the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation http://www.pbtfus.org/rideforkids/, Houston Ride for Kids on April 29.
On a warm, sunny morning our ride began at Stubbs cycles in Houston we rode police escorted to the Pasadena Convention Center and Fairgrounds. From there we rode a police-escorted tour of the countryside of southern Houston, the 700 bikes had the opportunity to pass themselves twice, once on the soaring heights of the Fred Hartman Bridge, and again as they circled the San Jacinto Monument. It was absolutely moving!!!
Kemper and I ride every chance we get even if it is just to the grocery to get a stick of gum...any excuse will do for us...
Our favorite place is Papa's on the Lake in Conroe http://www.papasonthelake.com/, almost any give Friday afternoon you'll find us there drinking their Raspberry Margarita...most expensive toddy you'll buy, but OMG! so worth it!
So...now you're all caught up...
This Labor Day Weekend, we are going on a real Wild Hog adventure we are riding up to Jefferson in East Texas. Rain or shine...we're packing the bike and running away from home for a few days...we plan to stop at my grandmother's house in Jacksonville, for a quick visit...thank God we won't have enough room to take home any jelly...Kemper has never met her, so he's in for a real treat...
From there we will ride into Jefferson and stay in a Bed & Breakfast "The Claiborne House", http://www.claibornehousebnb.com/. We are really excited, so watch the blog for more next week!!!!
